The Sussex County Department of Libraries was formed in 1975 as a result of state and county legislation. The department administers three libraries and the bookmobile. It also provides leadership for eleven independent libraries. It operates a daily delivery service between all public libraries in Sussex County and provides an out-of-state inter-library loan service through PALINET. The department houses professional resource materials for use by public library staff and provides library staff with regular training opportunities. It operates three Dial-A-Story lines, one of which offers Spanish language stories.
